THE seventh annual rugby exchange took place over half-term.
A party of 26 pupils and three staff travelled to Senlis, a picturesque, medieval town just outside Paris.
The Under 15 XV achieved a last minute victory 22-21, thanks to a fine individual try by Nigerian right wing Tokumbo Omeyade and a clinical, nerveless conversion by Sam Morton.
The Under 13 team came from behind to earn a 30-30 draw, thereby maintaining the Kelly seven-year unbeaten record against Senlis in Senlis.
James Shaw and William Pickard earned the man of the match awards in their respective teams.
Three days later, the Senlis party arrived in Tavistock to be greeted by torrential rain and gale-force winds. Two games were planned for Sunday afternoon, but the conditions became so appalling that only one match was possible.
In a game that none of the players or parents on the sidelines are likely to forget, Kelly secured a fine victory 25-5 with tries from Julian Challis, Daniel Green, Mike Myerscough and two from Omeyade.
The Senlis team were clearly not used to playing in monsoon conditions and the traditional 'French Flair' was conspicuous by its absence.
Indeed the Kelly team showed breathtaking skills and sleight of hand in such demanding conditions.
The Senlis honour was, however, saved when the Senlis captain Baudoing-Savois outflanked the Kelly defence in the last movement of the match.
