KELLY College swimmers were in action at the ASA South West Regional Short Course Championships earlier this month.  They came home with three gold, four silver, and five bronze medals, producing 66 personal best performances and 15 new age group club records.

Mark Sammut, Kelly's Maltese international swimmer, was in great early season form, setting three new Maltese records in the 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke.  The 200m backstroke record had stood since 1993.

It was 14-year-old Molly Redford who led the team home with three golds in the 800m freestyle (junior and senior) and the 400m freestyle.  Molly also collected a silver medal in the 200m individual medley and a bronze in the 200m freestyle.

Other Kelly medallists included Lucy Sanderson, collecting a silver medal in the 200m butterfly and producing a personal best;  Ben Walsh excelled in the 1,500m freestyle, improving his best time by over 30 seconds to win the senior silver medal in the open championship event;  15-year-old Elliot Boon produced two superb swims in the 200m individual medley and the 200m backstroke, collecting a bronze in each;  18-year-old Lawrence Oxborough finished third in the 200m freestyle and produced four PBs;  Matthew Courtis, 15, swam to a bronze medal in the junior 200m butterfly and fours PBs.

Other swimmers competing and obtaining personal best times were Reut Benaim, Cameron Carpenter-Warren, Felix Davies, Will Davies, Nadia Edling, George Humphrey, Stefanie Roskosch, Blaine Small, Chelsey Taylor, Joe Voller and Erin Walsh.
