THE Cardiff International Open Meet was held over three days at the beginning of July at the city's international pool. Kelly College sent nine and they came home with five new Kelly age group records, 37 personal best times, and 34 finalists from which Kelly swimmers gained two gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
Brittaney O'Reilly (11) won gold in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and silver in the 100m freestyle. Matthew Courtis (16) collected silver in the 400m individual medley and bronze in the 800m freestyle.
Erin Walsh (14) in the 100m backstroke took silver and broke her own Kelly age group record with a time of 1.08.86. Robbie Nielsen (12) won two bronze medals in the 100m backstroke and the 800m freestyle and also took the 12 year old 50m freestyle age group record with a time of 28.79. Georgia Jones (12) broke the school's age group record for the 400m IM with a time of 5.44.00 and also took bronze in the 100m breaststroke. Millie Murdoch (12) broke two long standing Kelly age group records — the 50m backstroke with a time of 34.94 and the 200m butterfly in 2.43.94. Sophie Hastings (14) swam a great 400m freestyle for fourth place. Her swim in the final of the 100m butterfly was just off the national qualifying time. Chloe Barrow (12) took 47 seconds off her 800m freestyle time with a good swim, leading from start to finish. Joe Voller (17) produced four personal best times from his seven swims.
