WITH the core of last year's unbeaten Kelly College girls' hockey team back again expectations were high for the season.
In the event, they have more than matched those expectations and, for the second season running, were unbeaten. For many of the same players to achieve this two seasons in a row is an outstanding achievement. In some ways this season's achievement was even better because they were also not beaten in the County Cup Final and were runners up there on goal difference.
Rebecca Wallace at under 17 level and Cherry Phypers at under 19 have represented the county, and Cherry has gone through to a West of England trial. These two have been key players together with this year Nora Pott who has given the team a real cutting edge with an outstanding 23 goals.
Further, this team has regularly beaten sides containing several county players and they were a team in every sense. Their scalps have included Ivybridge College, Torquay Girls Grammar School, West Buckland School, Plymouth College, Exeter School and Queen's College, Taunton.
