THE 53rd annual team championships for English Schools took place earlier this month at Stockport.
Two teams from Kelly College made the long journey to Stockport for the finals swimming against schools from all over the country.
Kelly College senior boys relay team of Cameron Brodie (18), Mark Sammut (17), Cameron Carpenter-Warren (17) and Joe Voller (16), won through to the final of the senior boys freestyle relay seeded in third. The boys improved their heat time by two seconds and swam their way into the silver medal. The gold was taken by Plymouth College and the bronze medal went to Millfield School.
In the medley relay Kelly boys narrowly missed out on third place, finishing fourth by 0.3 of a second.
Kelly College intermediate boys relay team of George Humphrey (15), Matthew Courtis (15), Felix Davies (16), Elliot Boon (16) and Will Davies (15) were also in the medley and freestyle relays.
The boys just missed out for a place in the final. In the freestyle relay it was 'touch and go' but the boys qualified for the final and by improving their heat time by nearly one second they earned seventh place.
