THE last weekend of the Devon County Amateur Swimming Association Championships were held at Exe Valley Leisure Centre, Tiverton.

Kelly College sent 30 swimmers and returned with two first, three seconds and two third places in the BAGCATS (British Age Group Categories) for 9-14 year old boys and 9-13 year old girls. Kelly won 35 medals, 12 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze.

Lucy Sanderson (16) took the girls 200m butterfly championship title with team-mate Blaine Small (17) second. Molly Redford (14) won her age group in the 200m butterfly, as did Victoria Moore (11).

Mark Sammut (17) had a good weekend placing second in two championship finals, the 200m freestyle and the 100m backstroke, where Cameron Carpenter-Warren sixth. Age Group medallists for Kelly Swim Squad in the 100m backstroke were: Joe Voller (16) gold, Felix Davies (16) silver, Robbie Neilsen (12) silver and Matthew Courtis(15) bronze.

In the 200m freestyle for boys Matthew Courtis was fifth in championship final with Elliot Boon sixth.

In the age group events, Tom Brew (10) took gold, as did Charlie Bayliss (16) Joe Voller (16) and Ben Staig (11) silver, with bronzes for Robbie Neilsen (12) and George Humphrey (15).

Victoria Callow in the championship final in the girls 50m breaststroke swam in a personal best time to clinch fifth.

In the girls 200m freestyle Blaine Small won silver with a personal best time. Brittaney O'Reilly (11) was second in her age group, Molly Redford (14) first and Georgia Jones (12) third.

Three Kelly boys reached the 200m individual medley final – Elliot Boon, fourth, George Humphrey, fifth and Mark Sammut sixth. Three gold medals were won in the age group finals by Benjamin Staig (11), Matthew Courtis (15) and Joe Voller (16) and a silver went to Tom Brew in the 10 year old age group. There was a bronze for Mark Sammut in the championship final of the 50m butterfly. Charlie Bayliss (16) won gold in his age group as did George Humphrey (15).

In the girls 50m butterfly championship Lucy Sanderson was sixth while Molly Redford won silver in the 14 year age group. Lucy also took bronze in the championship final of the girls 200m individual medley. It was gold for Molly, with Brittaney O'Reilly(11) second and Georgia Jones (12) third.

The event ended with the awarding of the BAGCAT awards and Kelly College Swim Squad swimmers achieving an award (small silver trophy) were: Boys 10-year-olds, 1, Thomas Brew, 3, Nathan Linden; 11 year-olds: 1, Benjamin Staig. 12 year-olds: 5, Robbie Neilsen. Girls: 11 year-olds, 2, Brittaney O'Reilly, 5, Victoria Moore; 12 year-olds, 2, Georgia Jones, 3, Chloe Barrow. 14 year olds: 2, Molly Redford.
