LAST Saturday morning in the wind and rain - though fortunately before the really horrible weather set in - various groups, families, couples and some others with only a bin bag for company set off for another Big Tidy Up all around Okehampton and the hamlets.

And what a difference they made! They cleaned in car parks, roads, lay-bys, in the hedges, amongst the bushes and on the river banks. And all with a smile on their faces (most of the time).

So, many, many thanks to all the litter picking foot soldiers from the Big Tidy Up organisers. I think we can also say ‘a big thank you’ from all the grateful people who live in the local area and from visitors from further afield too. Well done all of you.

And there are two easy ways that everyone can make a difference - PLEASE:

1. Put your litter in a litter bin or take it home to your bin.

2. Don’t be shy about picking up some litter that someone else may have dropped by mistake.
