HUNDREDS of 'Keep Warm, Keep Well' leaflets will be distributed by Meadowlands Leisure Pool, Tavistock, and Parklands Okehampton in support of a major national initiative to reach people with vital winter warming advice.
The leaflets give tips on staying active, eating well and keeping warm.
Centre manager Phil Jones said the campaign had some excellent advice on the health and well-being benefits of staying active.
'We're already encouraging thousands more people to get the fitness bug by supporting the Government's free swimming initiative and we work closely with local GPs and health trusts to develop fitness programmes to benefit their patients,' he said.
'Just 30 minutes a day of physical exercise will help to increase your energy levels, control your weight, reduce stress and improve sleep patterns.
'If you keep up your exercise routine over a long period, your risk of some health problems, such as heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and high blood pressure is also reduced.'
