LAST?Thursday a public consultation meeting held at Milton?Abbot Village Hall aimed to provide information to local residents regarding the proposal to site two large scale wind turbines, one in each of the parishes of Milton Abbot and Kelly.
The feeling in the hall was heated, by far the majority of people present being firmly against the proposals on numerous grounds.
We in these parishes are passionate about the countryside in which we live. I currently have a thriving tourism business which has been carefully nurtured over the years.?If these plans are to go ahead my home and business will be within 298 metres of the base of one of these turbines (The House of Lords is proposing a 1km distance threshold). I will no longer have a tourism business at Kelly, as critical to my business is the stunning view my guests have from our farm and the tranquillity they currently experience when they stay here, both of which will be lost should this proposal succeed.
Let's hope the Government wakes up to what it is doing to our beautiful countryside by allowing these developers to damage our landscapes, ironically under the guise of being green.
Our fantastic peaceful landscapes in West Devon are what bring people to holiday here in the first place. Please can we keep them that way for both local people and visitors alike to enjoy in the future?
