PEOPLE can enjoy the sight of spring flowers next week on a walk around Bere Ferrers for the annual evening stroll with a local botanist and conservationist. Martin Summers will take the walkers on a three to four mile route along the foreshore and hedgerows lining the Tavy estuary, then guide the way to a clear felled river valley to see its flora. There may be a chance to see a sparrow hawk or the Southern Marsh orchid which grows in the valley. All are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult, and dogs should be kept on leads. Suitable footwear and clothing should be worn. Cost is adults £2 and children 50p. Walk begins at 7pm on Thursday, May 11 and aims to be finished by 9pm. Booking is essential.
