MEMBERS of the West Devon Kie Kayak Club recently paddled down the River Teign from Sheepwash. Club leader Tony Rudall said: ?With river levels falling as we move into summer our short trip on the Torridge was probably the last river trip of the season.? Over the spring period, the club has paddled stretches of the West and East Okements, including several crossings of rapids. ?One of the most impressive drops that we did was the stretch of river just upriver from Okehampton town centre.? Tony said. ?We needed a club member on the bank with a rope for safety.? The club makes it a principle to co-operate fully with fishermen, farmers, and anglers when it comes to access to rivers in the area.
