TAVISTOCK ladies' hockey team knew this was going to be a tough friendly match as Essanians are in the higher league.
Essanians had to work the ball up the pitch in order to get past the midfield players of Kath Collar, Suzannah Harland, Becky Hutton and Sue Hornby who made timely interventions.
Unfortunately Essanians were able to score two goals in the first half.
Emma Bowden and July Smallacombe passed the ball from right to left but made no impact on the goalkeeper.
Tavistock picked up the pace in the second half, Sue Gawman forming some good attacks. Tavistock were awarded numerous short corners, which were well executed but still could not find the back of the net.
Tavistock were hungry for a goal and an excellent strike from Judy Smallacombe enabled Kath Collar to score.
Within the last minuted of the match Essanians scored again.

This Saturday Tavistock are home to Okehampton at Marjon with a 10.30pm push back.
