A YOUNG kart-racer from Milton Abbot has been selected as one of a handful of drivers to take part in a staged kart-racing display at a prestigious international motor show.
Jordan Williams, 12, a student at Tavistock College, will be one of the drivers racing in the live action arena as part of a new entry at the Autosport International Show at the Birmingham NEC from today (January 9) until Sunday.
The section is being run by the England team managers and organisers of the ?Stars of Tomorrow? national championship series.
There will be 13 shows over the four days of the event, each staging action-packed displays of all levels of motorsport, from karting to rallying and Supermoto right up to Formula One. McLaren ace David Coulthard will appear in the Saturday morning slot.
Jordan enjoyed a successful season last year at national karting events, seeded ninth overall, after some prestigious results and prize awards. One prize Jordan is still looking forward to is Jason Plato?s ?Man on a mission? award for driver of the day, which will give him the opportunity to be taken by top driver Jason on a visit to the Williams F1 factory.
Jordan is now moving up into to a new age group class for 11-16-year-olds in the larger and faster karts of junior TKM 100cc and junior Mini Max Rotax with water-cooled engines.
He is aiming to compete in the 2003 British Championships.
