THE new season for kart racing demon James Clarkson has started on a high, following a bad crash last autumn.

James, from Launceston, is sponsored by Tavy Signs, Countryside Furnishers? and now new backer Nick Coombes of Intercounty Distribution.

At one point, following the crash, James thought he might have to sit this season out due to lack of funds ? but thanks to his backers he is back on track again.

He said: ?After my crash I thought my racing career was over and I?d never find anyone with enough confidence to back me again, but with Countryside renewing their commitment and Intercounty joining, I feel I?ve got back to my old self on the track.?

This year?s clay Pigeon Kart Club championship is fierce with at least ten nationally ranked drivers in James? Rotax Max class.

Despite this, James is currently leading the championship, equal first with Dan Chain of Arizona, USA.

The next race for James is on July 13 when he hopes for an even better result and overall lead in the championships.
