Devon League B division
Tavistock 1st XI v Bideford 1st XI
TAVISTOCK started this game meaning business ? the first ten overs went for only 11 runs.
Orin Roesstorff bowled his first eight overs for only 13 runs, also taking the important wicket of M Allen, who chopped on pulling a fast delivery.
Steve Nicholson also bowled a tight spell of 11 overs for 33 runs.
Bideford hit back with Bettes riding his luck for 31 and South African Toefy bludgeoning a quick 34.
Veteran Andy Gauler bowled a tight, accurate spell. taking five for 61, not for the first time the pick of the bowlers.
Despite this Bideford showed why they were also in the running for promotion, posting a challenging 189.
Tavistock, confident after last week?s performance, set about the task. Toefy showed his class. He removed opener McGahey with a ball that moved from leg to off stump, then Luffman lbw and Manning with another top class delivery which moved away and found the edge.
Roesstorff, with a quality battling 50, and Searle, put Tavistock back on top. When Searle came off feeling unwell, the run rate dropped, and despite his being well enough to continue later it was too late and Tavistock ended on 133 for 7.
Honours even, but Tavistock still need nine runs from this week?s match at Exeter St James to be sure of A division cricket next year.
