AT 7pm on Friday a 24 hour exercise bike ride was started under the clock tower in the square in North Tawton, in aid of North Tawton Football Club.

Riders from the club's football teams and supporters alike all took part by completing 15  minute sessions on the bikes to clock up as many miles as they could.

Starting the event was the club president Neil Dennis.

Riding right through the night and on to 7pm the next day the riders showed their stamina by clocking up 414 miles and burnt 17,100 calories.

To raise money there was a competition to guess the amount of miles and calories for £1 a go.

The winner of the miles travelled with a guess of 417 was Eddie Bragg, and the winner of the calories burnt with a guess of 17,000 was Jamie Bruce.

Rob Whiteley, the club's chairman, said: 'Many thanks go to all those who gave money towards the event, a total of £624 pounds were raised, this will help with a project at the club to install the new electricity supply.'
