Tavistock U12s 12
Ivybridge U12s 14
THIS very enjoyable match resulted in the closest these two sets of boys have ever finished. Two tries each and just a missed kick between them.
Tavistock soaked up a lot of the early pressure but soon had the visitors defending on their own line with a clearance kick that was charged down by captain Barnaby Frost for a touch down to open the scoring.
Ivybridge?s well drilled forwards kept Tavistock in defence for the rest of the half scoring two and having another disallowed for a double movement.
The kicking of Jack Morgan and some excellent try-saving tackling from Frost helped keep the visitors score down.
After the turn round Tavistock put together some well formed attacks with forwards winning loose ball and feeding the backs. A penalty 20 metres out was quickly moved along the line to centre Elliot Hoyte to drive across and score.
First time starter at full back Sam Lynsey coped well with some difficult balls and the arrival of Daniel Oner for the last ten minutes added a spark to the Tavistock attacks.

TAVISTOCK had their traditional slow start with Ivybridge running in a quick try virtually straight from the kick-off.
They continued to dominate the set plays and quickly added a second ? it looked as though Tavistock were about to be thrashed by one of the strongest sides in Devon.
However, from the second restart Jonty Newton powered through a number of tackles then off-loaded to Frasier Bayliss who scored for Tavistock.
Ivybridge scored again but a try by speedster William Colton and another from Rhys Davis following a determined run meant Tavistock went in level.
In the second half the forwards were reorganised and Tavistock began to win set plays, with Robert Grove having a fine game at hooker. Davis put Tavistock ahead with a run down the wing only for Ivybridge to equalise.
Tavistock took the game out of Ivybridge?s reach with tries from Newton (2) and Bayliss sniping at a five metre scrum.
Henry Salmon, Henry Kisby and Jamie Stephens all had fantastic games, dominating loose play.

TAVISTOCK started positively with some penetrating running by Adam Billington who scored two good tries. Ben Hosking also got in on the scoring action. James Perring, Lawrence Harrison, Imogen Muir and Ben Steel tackled well while Dominic and Joe Lindsay made a useful all round contribution.
In the second period some elusive running from Harry Snowden resulted in two tries.
Kris Chapman, Nick Jory and Olly Straughan added three further tries. George Carter and Zak Brinkhirst made strong runs but were tackled short of the line. Tom Jackman and Alex Ferguson were always keen in defence.
The final period saw Tavistock take control, scoring six tries with Ivybridge only scoring one in reply. Player of the match Daniel Dobie had some excellent runs down the wings.
Marcus Hoddinott and Jonny Massey scored two tries each following some good running rugby. Adam Billington and Matthew Dobie completed the scoring.
