North Okes U14s 17
Ivybridge U14s 12
THE first round of the cup meant North Okes faced Ivybridge at Taw Meadow. The first quarter was very evenly matched with both sides desperately trying to put points on the board first.
North Okes forwards scrummaged well allowing some tidy passing out to Connor Stevens in the centre who made good ground each time he touched the ball. Frank Smith cleaned up at fullback and made some strong runs down the wing but it was Rhys Palmer who went over in the corner.
North Okes took their foot off the pedal and allowed Ivybridge back into the game in the second half but Matt Milton held up what would have been their third try.
Undetered Ivybridge launched a further attack only stopped by Rhys Palmer intercepting the final pass out to the winger. With only minutes to go North Okes ran up the centre and a well timed pass out to Jack Davey who managed to dive over the line to seal the win.
Crediton U12s 7
Okehampton U12s 7
OKEHAMPTON won the toss and opted to kick off with the slope. It was Crediton who scored first after some good running lines and of loading. Okehampton
started to gel more as a team.
After some strong running from centre Johnny King from a set penalty move. It was Joe Mawle who scooped up the ball and crashed over to level the scores. The remainder of the game resulted in stale mate, both sides showing some good attacking and defensive skills.
Mentions must go to Tom Bailey, who if it moved he tackled it. Alex Marsden who gathered some good testing kicks and put the opposition under a lot of pressure. Also Daniel Thorne who again made some impressive runs and defended his line to the last.

THE wet muddy conditions were not conducive to a fast game of flowing rugby so both teams had to knuckle down and fight hard to gain ground.
Oke welcomed James into their squad and he began his first match well, making an impression with his determined runs. He nearly broke through to score but Crediton defended hard on their own line.
At one point it looked as though Crediton would open the scoring, only for the ball to be held up right on the try line by Daniel, having run back from his own half to ensure the score stayed at 0-0.
Once again the Oke scrum performed well and Lewis seemed to grow in this match with a well timed offload to Nathan who went over to score.
In the second half, all of the Oke team pulled together to display good ball handling skills and determined tackling. This strong teamwork gave Nathan the opportunity to score twice more and Dai Chi once for a well deserved win for Oke.

Okehampton U10s 20
NEITHER team initially gained any real advan-tage. Then Alex, for Oke, broke away with a well-timed run to pass to Nathan for the first try. Oke's drive and mauling skills were put to the test but they held together well, despite the home side equalling before half time.
Nathan scored three more times in the second half due to good supporting play from the team, especially the strong tackling by Dai Chi. Okes' player of the match was Lewis Reynolds.
Tavistock U10s 10
Crediton U10s 0
AFTER a level pegged first half, Tavistock eventually went in front with great work from the pack of Joe Burbage, Cian Benny and Archie Martin with Theo Jenkins putting in some impressive tackles. The tries were scored by Jude White and Lochlan Fulton but it was a collective team effort from all the players
Tavistock U10s 20
Newton Abbot U10s 25
THIS was a game of two halves. Tavistock's slack tackling in the first half allowed a 20-0 head start to Newton Abbot at half time. However, some gritted determination from Jack Smily, Zac Gorton, Luke Lewandski and John Lord led the fight back with three quick tries scored by Jack, Jude and Jacob Staig. Newton scored another try but Tavistock pulled one back through Jude.

PLAYING their first derby match between the two clubs, Okehampton laid down a marker from the first whistle to Crediton, with some ferocious tackling and rucking. Creditons frailties were only too evident with some great line breaks and tries from Ethan Wilds (2), George Cox, Harry Laing-Taylor, Ben Wharton (2), and James Close (1).
Daniel Tomkins (1) and Saul Holiday both made good direct runs, setting up clean ball for the young Okes to maintain attacks. Matthew Denning, David Smith and Jake Laing-Taylor played well, holding their positions to counter Crediton attacks.
Cole Pengelly and James Stevens again showed their metal, both producing good clean ruck ball and making countless tackles around the pitch to keep Okehampton on the front foot. Joshua Burgoyne probed and organised the team well from scrum-half, showing his leadership skills are developing.
Joshua McCullock made several good tackles on his debut, showing he will be a real asset to the team.
Though played in cold, wet and heavy conditions, Okehampton passed the ball with confidence, moving forward with real determination. Some of Okehampton's defensive play was outstanding, as reflected in the score. Well done to the squad on a great win, with some real teamwork.
