A VOLUNTEER for Brentor-based children's charity CHICKS will be making her first parachute jump in aid of the charity this Sunday.

Moira Steevenson has been working for the charity, also known as Country Holidays for Inner City Kids, on a voluntary basis for the last two years.

Moira, wife of local wine merchant Charles Steevenson, has wanted to do a parachute jump for many years but her involvement with CHICKS has finally given her a good excuse.

In June, Moira went on one of the holidays as a volunteer helper.

She said: 'I found myself being involved in all sorts of activities I would never normally have the opportunity to do but the real experience was seeing the children blossom, forget their problems and enjoy just being a child for a week.

'Last year I abseiled down the Plymouth Aquarium and now I'm jumping out of a plane for them — I dread to think what they will get me doing next but if it raises money for this wonderful charity it will be worthwhile.'
