JU Jitsu Tavistock once again got involved with the 1st Tavistock Cubs to help them towards achieving their fitness badge.
Umberto, the club instructor, said: 'Following last year's success I was asked by David Symons if I wanted to be involved again this year with the group working towards the fitness badge by running a jujitsu session. My response was an immediate yes.
The kids weren't quite sure what to expect, but once we got started they really got into it and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Even the leaders joined in and had a go. To this day I am not too sure who enjoyed the class the most, the troops or the leaders!"
David Symons, the scout leader, added: 'The 1st Tavistock Cubs thoroughly enjoyed an evening of jujitsu training recently at their weekly meeting. Under the careful eye of Umberto Bergonzini sensei the Cubs were shown a number of basic moves. The evening was put on by Umberto as part of the Scouts Fitness Challenge Award and gave them an insight into the discipline and control needed to partake in this martial art.'
