JOSH Bush of Hatherleigh, competed in the English Athletics U17s men Indoor Combined Events Championships in Sheffield over this weekend. This incorporated the Midlands, Northern England and Welsh Championships.
It was his first indoor heptathlon which consisted of 60m sprint, long jump, shot put, high jump on the Saturday and 60m hurdles, pole vault and 1,000m on the Sunday.
Pole vault is a new discipline at this age and after one practice in the competition he cleared 2.65m and was close to clearing 2.75m.
Josh was seventh out of 18 competitors with a score of 3,747 setting six new personal bests and equalling a previous personal best in the high jump with 1.80m where he was joint first.
He also won the gold medal in the Midlands Championships part of the event.
