LAMERTON returned to league action against a side they had already drawn against earlier in the season.
The first half saw the home side dominating but a combination of good defending and a lack of poise in front of goal resulted in no goals by half-time.
In the second half Lamerton began to find more space and went a goal up when Tony Jones converted a Danny O'Hare cross.
Jones scored his second shortly afterwards, this time firing home a pass from Will Cann.
The midfielder was then denied a hat-trick when his shot hit the foot of the post.
Typical of the competitive nature of this division, Altarnun fought back strongly, giving Lamerton an uncomfortable last five minutes, and came close to reducing the arrears, only to be thwarted by a brave point-blank save by keeper Pete Daniel.
