A COUPLE who have both battled cancer are appealing for people in West Devon to take up a fundraising challenge for Cancer Research UK. Jill Watts and David Collyer, from Plympton, Plymouth,  are calling for volunteers to come forward to help launch a Cancer Research Relay For Life event in the area this summer. Relay For Life is the biggest fundraising event in the world and is a 24-hour festival of celebration, hope and remembrance to recognise the strides being made to beat cancer and to raise funds to conquer the disease. Grandmother Ms Watts, 60, noticed a mole on her arm which turned out to be cancerous. Her partner David Collyer, 64, said he did not feel ill at all before he was diagnosed with prostate cancer seven years ago. Mr Collyer also lost his wife Beverley to breast cancer in October 2003.  Chris Babb, area volunteer manager for Cancer Research UK, said: 'We're already looking to recruit teams to participate because a lot of the fundraising takes place prior to the event itself and so the planning needs to start straight away. 'But as well as participants, we're also keen to hear from anyone who can volunteer their organisational skills.'
