A NEW friends organisation has been set up for the Tamar Valley and the group is now seeking members.

The Friends of the Tamar Valley will be meeting at the Tamar Valley Centre on the first Friday of the month at 7.30pm, and both members and non-members will be welcome to join them for the various talks that have been organised.

Jo Davis will give a talk about her adventure while crossing the mid Atlantic on January 7, Glyn Berrington will talk about bees in orchards on February 4, the history and development of the garden house will be given by Sue Allen on March 4, and the Annual General Meeting followed by Gerry Woodcock talking about Tavistock Abbey will take place on April 8.

Joining the Friends of Tamar Valley costs £15 per couple, and £8 for a single person, with members paying £1 per meeting, and non-members £2.

Membership will entitle people to join all the meetings and social events, and a chance to help staff of the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with various projects and voluntary work from time to time as well as a biannual newsletter.
