A TAVISTOCK College student cycling from Land?s End to John O?Groats next month for multiple sclerosis research invites readers to accompany him through Tavistock on his tour. Antony Butcher, 16, is cycling through Tavistock on Sunday, July 9 with his cycling partner Jamie Osborne, who will be raising money for Dartmoor Rescue Group. They welcome people of all ages and experiences to cycle with them between Tavistock and Mary Tavy for any distance and at any speed. The route will take them through Callington to Gunnislake before they reach Tavistock, where local band ASB will perform a 30-minute gig. Then with the help of West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox, Antony will draw the winners from his raffle before heading off. Antony is holding the raffle in aid of the MS Society with prizes which include an X-Box and a meal for two at Duke?s. To enter see Antony in Tavistock Market every Saturday for tickets or call him on 01822 610180. Antony, who hopes to raise almost £3,000 for MS, said: ?It?s a week after Parklife and a week before the carnival, the two biggest events this year in Tavistock. The opportunity to stage something seemed too good to miss. ?There have been many people who have sponsored or helped me in one way or another, and this is a chance to let them share the unique euphoria of Land?s End to John O?Groats, which would not be possible without them.?
