WHAT was life like in Okehampton when Victoria was on the throne? Wren music is offering a chance to find out with a light-hearted evening of history and stories about the town today (Thursday), from 6pm until 9pm. ?Everything You Always Wanted To know About Okehampton But Were Afraid To Ask? will be held at the Ockment Centre, as part of the development of the Okehampton Songtales community musical. A panel of experts will be on hand to answer the audience?s questions about the life and times of Okehampton over the centuries. Entrance to the event is free, and there will be a light indoor buffet - to which everyone is invited to bring along their own food and drink. The Okehampton Songtales musical, which will be staged in 2008, will have lots of songs and music in it, and will offer a wide range of opportunities for people of all ages to get involved, with regular workshops and rehearsals starting in September. Wren would like to hear from people interested in joining in as props and costume managers as soon as possible.
