OKEHAMPTON Golf Club had a full start sheet for Saturday?s Burd Medal and McCleod Cup. Again competition was keen and the weather was fine for all players. Winning the Burd medal for the best net score was Johnny Weller with an excellent net 62. Second was Jonny Rattenbury with a net 64 and third and winning the McCleod Cup for the best scratch score was Gareth Holt with a gross 67 net 64. Division two was won by Richard Reid with a gross 77 net 62, Mark Strong was second with a net 63 and Matt Milford was third with a net 64. Division three was won by Andrew Stevens with a net 63, second was Paul McDonald with a net 64 and third was Dave Wooldridge with a net 65. The Okehampton Ladies kept the flag flying at the annual Devon County Ladies bronze meeting, which was held at Downes Crediton Golf Club. Sue Glanville was third in the scratch medal competition and Maureen Howe was fourth in the Stableford section. On Wednesday the ladies played a foursomes Stableford, incorporating the Killard Levy qualifying for veteran ladies. Kath Mansell and Kay King won both the Club competition and the Killard Levy with 33 points; second were Cherry James and Lorna Rolfe with 28 points. Second in the Killard Levy were Maureen Willcocks and Doris Jewell with 26.
