HAVING been hailed as ‘Wigan’s answer to Jimi Hendrix’, John Fairhurst has been wooing the live circuit for over a decade with his astounding guitar skills — but it was arguably 2016 that saw him break through to international demand.

He’s looking forward to bringing his show to The Wharf next Thursday, November 9.

Touring the Netherlands with Dutch act ‘My Baby’, including sold out shows at Amsterdam’s Paradiso, Fairhurst played to rapturous audiences across a rammed festival schedule with no less than nine shows at Glastonbury alone, as well as Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Green Gathering, Small World, Bimble Bandada and countless others.

He kicked off 2017 with a sweatbox show at the famous 100 Club for London Blues Week alongside Eric Sardinas, John’s ascent shows no signs of slowing.

His headline slot of Blues Alive Festival was aired across Czech national television, while his music also featured on several movie soundtracks including Plan Z and feature film Tomorrow, produced by Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese.

Playing both solo and with the Royal Academy of Music graduate Nina Harries on double bass and renowned drummer Nuno Brito, Fairhurst spent the best part of the year on the road.

Fairhurst will be sharing the stage with equally credible Rodney Branigan.

He is a Texas-raised Londoner who learned to play in Austin, perform in Los Angeles, craft songs in Nashville, and put it all together in London.

A master of several instruments, with a rich and soulful voice, Rodney’s heartfelt lyrics have often led to comparisons with cult 90s star Jeff Buckley.

His infectious blend of organic progressive folk, rock, flamenco, classic, bluegrass and jazz sensibilities have seen Rodney tour the USA from coast to coast and travel the world across China, India, Africa and Europe, where his reputation as an outstanding live performer has led to turns supporting the likes of Billy Sheehan, Jack Johnson, Angelique Kidjo, Pentagram, Shair’n’Func, Show of Hands and Francis Cabriel among others.
