Tavistock U16s 4 Morley Rangers U16s 1

DESPITE a heavy pitch Tavistock started and for the most part, continued to play minimum touch accurate and committed football.  This unsettled the away team and allowed players such as Josh Robins, Adam Davies and Brad Bourne the time to show that they can play good football and eventually enabled Pridham to score one of his chances.

Continued efforts by Jake Case, Phil Wearing and player of the match Joel Blatchford allowed Morley little time to counter and eventually Pridham was able to net to put Tavistock 2-0 up by half time.

The second half started with Morley coming back into the game but Tavistock rallied and continued to work as a team to pressure the Morley goal.  This pressure allowed Josh Leeson to grab his first and Tavistock's third goal, with a low drive from the edge of the area.

Tavistock goalkeeper Jamie Montgomery was more than up to the any Morley attack as the keeper's releases allowed Chris Hoar to continue to pressurise the Morley defence – with one such cross from the right leading to Mayne rifle Tavistock's fourth.

Phoenix City U16s 1

THISTLES soon went a goal behind as a hopeful cross beat the unfortunate keeper, Jack Haigh, and dropped under the crossbar. Phoenix dominated the first 10 minutes and things might have got worse had it not been for the alertness of centre back, Jack Quinn, who kept City at bay.

However, the midfield partnership of Jonny Hake, Jay Lambert and Robin Jones began to dominate, and Tavistock bounced back into the game with a quick fire double. First, Josh Vernon fired in a freekick from the edge of the box; then, moments later, Jones made a surging run into the box before cutting the ball back to Vernon who was on hand to slot home his second goal.

Thistles now started passing the ball around the park with confidence, looking to exploit the width provided by Sam Newton and Ian Harvey, while Phoenix started to buckle under the pressure. Left back Louis Wilson popped up for Tavistock to whip in a cross that beat everyone, including the City keeper, before creeping in at the far post. After having a goal disallowed Thistles captain, Hake, battled his way into the Phoenix box and blasted the ball in at the near post.

The Thistles' defence looked impregnable with Ed Argles and Cadan Lowther dominating the battle against an impotent City strike force, leaving keeper, Haigh, with very little to do. Thistles continued to press forward, and another opportunity fell to Lambert who danced past three defenders before curling the ball past the hapless City keeper.

Vernon still had time to complete his hat-trick, and grab his fourth as Thistles ran out comfortable winners.

Tavistock Thistles U15s 1

St Cleer U15s 2

THISTLES matched their opponents all the way, only losing to a superbly struck 20 yard effort 60 seconds from time. The game flowed from end to end with each side battling all the way and playing some neat football.  Thistles were including four new signings in their squad.  A Glenn Tremblett long throw in from the left was not cleared by Saints and from the right side of the penalty area Martin Hoar scored with a cracking effort hit across goal and inside the post.

In to the second half Saints had a couple of efforts that debutant keeper Sean Gill dealt with before they equalised with some 20 minutes remaining.  But Gill was not over worked as his defence of Dan Lowe, Craig Erickson and his replacement Andy Bennett, Michael Johnson and debutant Tom Goswell were performing outstandingly, the latter marked Saints' dangerous attacker out of the game. But they could do nothing about the Saints' winner that, while a draw would have been a fair result, was a goal worthy of winning any game.

Honiton U15s 7

Okehampton Argyle U15s 3

ARGYLE started well with Dennis looking strong and Ausden chasing everything . Dennis put through a great ball to Milton who made an excellent shot that the keeper got a hand to but Boother pounced to put it into the net.

Argyle soon scored again when Ausden put through a good ball to Dennis who finished well. However Honiton came back with two quick goals to equalise.

The visitors began to lose their shape and Honiton found Argyle's weakness to scored three more.

Alden for Argyle had a chance but the keeper got a hand to it and tipped the ball just over the bar. Another goal from Honiton saw Argyle despair but they managed to pull one back when Smith put through a great ball to Ausden making it 6-3. Honiton scored a seventh just before the final whistle.
