I ADMIT to not being quite up to date on the reasons, but, what on earth is going on in the town?
The upheaval over the last week and more has been almost absurd and, as so often, there appears to be both a sad lack of co-ordination and planning (typical — holes are being dug in the same places more than once!). Just as an example — it can now take a half hour to drive from Exeter Road Industrial estate to Market Street — quite ridiculous!
I wonder sometimes if the perpetrators of these disruptions ever take into account the total cost to us — the humble and ever persecuted public.
If allowance is made for increased fuel usage, loss of time etc — not to mention the potential for losses to town traders, then this is indeed a costly exercise and with no apparent redress. Good old Joe Public — ever the stoic — at least, that's what we are supposed to be.
The sooner this work is completed the better — and maybe then those of us having to or hoping to use the town can try and regain some sanity!
