IN this friendly, Okehampton ladies' hockey team took the opportunity to practise their short passing game and it ultimately won them the match.
Columbines went a goal behind when a roll-on substitute momentarily unsettled the defence, leaving an Exeter player unmarked.
Columbines equalised before the end of the half.
Most of the goals came in the second half when Okehampton produced good hockey. Jo Stephens and Sue Stanbury dominated the centre midfield and Sarah Toms at centre forward distributed the ball well to her wings.
The Okehampton defence played cohesively, passing the ball out of trouble and breaking down the Exeter attack.
The danger from Exeter came mostly from their left flank. Debbie Pritchard and Judith Grant were strong in breaking down the Exeter play.
It took two good goals from Exeter to add to their score but the goals for Okehampton came from Sarah Toms, Jo Moppett (2), Viv Weatherington and Jo Stephens and all resulted from good team play.
