'ABSOLUTELY hysterical' — that was the reaction of Meeth teenager Jo McBain when she opened the letter to say that she had been selected to join the England under 19s women's rugby squad. Jo, 18 and a former Okehampton College student, underwent four trials in the Midlands as 150 young women players from all over the country were whittled down to a squad of thirty. The talented number eight, who plays for North Tawton Ladies' rugby team, said: 'When I read the letter I went hysterical and giggly for the rest of the day. I was really happy.' She will be vying for a place in the line up for two internationals at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire against the USA on Sunday, March 25, before taking on Canada on Wednesday, April 4, and Sunday, April 8. All fixtures will be played at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. The extra fixture has been added to provide more competitive international preparation for the England squad. Jo has been playing rugby since the age of five and at the age of 14 began training with the North Tawton Ladies. 'We all give 100 per cent . The girls give it their all on the pitch and we have a lot of fun off it. I love playing for North Tawton and it would be just a bonus to be picked for England.' l Jo is pictured left.
