POLICE are appealing for information after a burglary in Mary Tavy on Wednesday, October 2.

A large amount of jewellery was stolen, including a ladies round-face gold Gucci watch, a number of gold rings with various inset stones, silver rings, gold chains, pendants, earrings, brooches and cameo jewellery.

Of particular sentimental value to the victim was a man's gold ring with a flat face and small inset diamond. The ring was worn by the victim's father all the way through the trenches in world war one.

Other items missing are those which were gifts from the victims late husband, including a fine gold Victorian bangle which had a fancy swirling design around a central ball, finished in smooth and matte gold, and a silver filigree deep necklace designed with swifts or terns. This item was in its original green leather box with the Scottish thistle emblem.

Unusual items also stolen included a set of opera glasses, a pair of ladies' Gucci sunglasses and a very old silver pot and lid with the word 'akimanadukano' engraved on the base.

Police are interested in locating a man seen in the area of Bal Lane, Mary Tavy on Wednesday, October 2. The male is described as white, in his 30s, of heavy build and around 5ft 8ins tall. He had dark hair and stubble and was seen to be using a dark grey vehicle with an 04 number plate.
