OKEHAMPTON Golf Club are getting ready for Christmas, as members played their 2007 turkey trot stableford on Saturday. Though the weather was cold it managed to stay dry for most of the day, the scoring was steady, showing just how much wet winter fairways and autumnal leaves affects it. Jeff May won division one, on countback, with 39 points from Paul Skidmore who was second also 39 points. Third and fourth places were also decided on the back 9 with Alan Hough coming third with 37 points, beating Jonny Rattenbury also 37. Dave Harwood had the best score of the day, winning division two with 40 points. Second was Colin Sturgess with 38, again on countback from Steve Cook and fourth was Gerald Bird who scored 37 points. Division three was won by Nick Waldron 39 points, second was John Donovan 38 points, third was Adrian Rice 37 points and was Ray Grey with 36 points. The ladies had played their turkey trot on Wednesday. This also proved to be a close contest with Kath Mansell having the better back 9 to win first place with 35 points from Pam Jarman. Mo Huggins came third with 32 points on countback from Cherry James.
