TOMMASO Starace will perform a combination of jazz original compositions based and inspired from the black and white photographs of world renowned Magnum Agency photographer Elliott Erwhitt when his quartet comes to Plymouth Jazz Club next month. The quartet is led by saxophonist Starace, who originates from Milan, Italy, and graduated in 2000 from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama after having studied with John Toussaint, Stan Sulzman and Martin Hathaway. Jonathon Gee on piano has worked regularly with US stars Dave Murray and Mark Murphy. Jerome Davies on bass, is much in demand playing with British jazz names such as Jim Mullen, Christine Tobin and Alan Barnes. Drummer Jim Hart began playing piano and drums at the age of four and by eleven was playing both in the Tamar Youth Jazz Orchestra and percussion with the Cornwall Youth Wind Orchestra. He also leads his own Quartet which will be appearing at The Ordulph Arms in Tavistock on November 30 for the Tamar Valley Jazz Association. The Tommaso Starace Quartet gig will be in the Function Suite at the Mermaid, Frogmore Avenue, Eggbuckland at 8pm on November 5.
