A GROUP of ten students and staff from Momijigawa Senior High School in Tokyo arrived recently for a ten-day stay in Tavistock. They enjoyed a buffet reception at the town hall, hosted by mayor Anne Johnson (above), before visiting Exeter Cathedral and going horse riding on Dartmoor. They participated in college lessons and extra curricular activities such as archery and climbing with their host students who visited Tokyo in November. In July another group of 20 students and two teachers from Edogawa Ward in Tokyo will visit Tavistock for ten days. In November a total of  30 Tavistock College students will go to Tokyo for two weeks to stay with Japanese families and take part in the 80th anniversary celebrations of Momijigawa High School. Crispin Chambers, head of Japanese at Tavistock College, paid tribute to all the students and parents who make this exchange programme so successful.  Picture by James Bird
