A GRENOFEN resident joined 600 others on horseback to ride through the famous racecourse at Ascot in the largest sponsored horse ride in Britain — Horses for Heroes.
Jane Blackburn and her horse, O'Ryan, travelled to Windsor to take part in the event, raising money for the military charity Help for Heroes.
Jane and O'Ryan rode around Windsor Great Park and finished by riding up the hallowed turf past the winning post of the famous racetrack, raising £1,200 for the charity.
O'Ryan, who is approaching 20 years old, has been owned by Jane since he was six months old, after being noticed as a foal with his mother. The pair compete in BSJA show jumping competitions at an amateur level, both locally and around the country.
Jane said: 'O'Ryan is so special to me as he has been with me since he was a baby, so to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity together for such a great cause is fantastic. It's an honour to be part of an event so worthwhile and give something back to those fighting for us and our country.'
The Horses for Heroes charity has raised almost £400,000 from the ride.
Jane expressed thanks to all who have supported them.
