South Molton U16s 24

Tavistock U16s 27

Tavistock made the early probing runs but following a clearing kick the home team opened the scoring with a try in the corner.

This seemed to wake Tavistock up and a probing run by Bob Finbow into the 22 galvanised them into action. A five metre scrum saw number eight Mark Friend pick up and feed Jack Bond who scored in the corner. Josh Leeson converted. Tavistock's second try came after Dan Oner collected a clearance and made a run to the 22 where he offloaded to Tom Thursby who ran through to touchdown. Leeson increased their lead, after Tavistock were awarded a penalty in front of the posts.

Their next score came after breaks by Friend and Finbow resulted in a penalty five metres out. A quick tap and pass by Leeson enabled Oner to dive over. On the stroke of half time the home side touched down in the corner.

The second half saw Tavistock unable to break out of their 22 and South Molton drove over for a converted try. The home side now sensed that they could win and only some desperate tackling kept them at bay. However, they took the lead with a try under the posts.

With time running out Tavistock made some ground and following a lineout and drives Jack Lindsey saved the day as he was driven over by the forwards to put Tavistock back in the lead by a point which Leeson increased with the conversion.
