Plymouth and West Devon Sunday league division two

Windmill 1

Walkhampton 2

JACK Yeo scored a stunning 65 yard strike to give Walkhampton an unexpected win which ended the Windmills chances of claiming the title.

Walkhampton were reduced to a bare 11, which included two goalkeepers, Craig Mulholland and Yeo — who played at left back.

Walkhampton aimed to frustrate their opponents with a defensive line and hit on the counter-attack. The plan worked perfectly and Tom Scott latched onto a fine through ball from Dale Mullen, to finish calmly to the keepers left.

The visitors continued to soak up pressure with Paul Gibbings putting in an heroic performance at the back that inspired those around him.

Scott had a penalty appeal waved away minutes before the hosts equalised through Darren Parr.

With the score level at the break Walkhampton gave away nothing to their hosts in the 2nd half.

On the hour Yeo stepped-up to score his wonder goal from 65 yards out.

After that Walkhampton took total control of the game with Scott, Steve Gibbings, Mullen and Dean Collings all going close to increasing the lead. Walkhampton saw the game out comfortably to seal the victory.
