OKEHAMPTON Ladies played a qualifying stableford on July 28.
Some wonderful golf was played, with Dawn Phillott, handicap 9, scoring 38 points and winning the silver division. Penny Deakin was second, beating Amanda Clifford on the back 9, with 36 points.
Winning the bronze division, on the back 9, with a great score of 40 points, was Maureen Willcocks, now playing off 28 hcp; second was Lyn Hazelton, now off 23hcp, third Chris Stevens, 38 points.
On July 30 the Shealah Creasy team had a visit from Dartmouth, and despite the thunderstorm of the previous night, the greens still caused the visitors problems.
This means Okehampton Ladies Lorna Rolfe, Sylvia Caunter, Lyn Hazelton, Chris Stevens, Doris Jewell, Gladys Thatcher and Janet Hatch had an excellent 6-1 win.
Some of the matches were very close, indeed two were decided on the 18th. The return match is today (Thursday) away at Dartmouth.
