THE cream of South West chefs are lining up for Tavistock Food and Drink Festival this year which takes place on July 29 and 30. Master chef Peter Gorton from the Horn of Plenty Restaurant at Gulworthy has organised the festival cookery demonstration programme which will feature ten of the best chefs in the west. They will include the reputed Tanner brothers, Michelin star Jacques Marchal, who spent 29 years as owner and chef of Plymouth restaurant Chez Nous, and Paul da Costa Greaves of The Galley fish restaurant in Topsham. John Spillings, from Raymond Blanc?s world famous Oxford restaurant the Manoir Aux Quat? Saisons, has also agreed to be at this festival which has thrilled Peter Gorton: ?We expect John to be a real crowd puller on Sunday morning,? he said. Another new face will be Craig Stevens from the recently opened Seafood Restaurant in Yealmpton. A children?s demonstration kitchen will also run alongside the main programme. All programmes will have a strong emphasis on quality local food.
