Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3
Lanivet 2
Mary Tavy 2
MARY Tavy, without four key players, namely captain, top scorer and left and right backs, took on a Lanivet side intent on making amends on the defeat inflicted earlier in the season.
The match was played in a physical fashion with strong challenges from both sides on a soft, although heavy going pitch. Lanivet were much the livelier throughout the first half and saw numerous chances go begging as they failed to hit the Tavy target.
The opening minutes of the return saw Ben Stephens scramble an equaliser but the home side again regained the lead. Tavy then pressured the away goal and a flurry of corners led to Dominic Reeves steering the leveller from 25 yards.
At this point it was Mary Tavy who took over as another attack led to a home defender handling in the area for what many saw as a penalty, but the referee missed the incident and the appeals fell on deaf ears.
Tavy continued to press and scored two further goals, both of which were ruled out to leave the final score at 2-2.
