THE Cosdon Group of Friends of St Loyes had a busy week which started with preparations for their autumn sale held on Saturday in the Charter Hall, Okehampton, where £300 was raised. On Wednesday, 20 friends went off to St Loyes College in Topsham Road, Exeter, to be guests of honour at a special lunch to celebrate the group?s 40th anniversary, complete with a large fresh cream cake. After lunch the group toured the college and saw the improvements that result partly from fundraising from the Okehampton area. Founder members Mrs Jan Berry, Mrs Marion Woods and Mrs Winnie Salter are still working hard making toys and functional items as well as the baking of cakes, for sale at the events held in Okehampton and South Zeal. These ladies have dedicated so much of their personal time in helping others to help themselves. The last fundraising event this year is on November 11 in the Victory Hall, South Zeal. If anyone has any unwanted books, bric-a-brac or bottles for the bottle stall they would be gratefully received. The secretary can be contacted on 01837 840527 after 5pm or leave a message.
