?DIRECTIONS? Youth Information Point has been re-directed to a new base in Okehampton, where it will continue to provide information, advice and support to young people.
?Directions? is the Devon Youth Service project helping young people between the ages of 12 and 25, and is the only service of it?s kind in Okehampton.
The project was set up three years ago, and has been successfully operating in East Street, next door to the Exeter Arms ever since. In fact, the service has been so successful, it has outgrown its premises and will soon be moving into the Carlton Centre ?the old Okehampton Times office ? in St James Street.
Following some minor redecoration work, the new venue will not only accommodate ?Directions?, it will act as the headquarters for Devon Youth Service (Okehampton) plus there will also be a Connexions worker available at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Connexions helps 16-19 year-olds who require information on any employment, training or further education issue.
Unfortunately, the refurbishment of the new premises will not have been completed by the time ?Directions? has to vacate its East Street base. Temporary arrangements have been made to run the Youth Information Point out of ?Inspirations? ? the shop on the corner of Northfield and Crediton Road.
Devon Youth Service (Okehampton) would like to express its gratitude to the members of the Church of the Nations for allowing Directions to continue to offer advice and information for young people in the Okehampton area.
