TWO ladies scored holes in one on the sixth hole during the July stableford competition at Yelverton Golf Club.
Lilian Strachan (h'cap 20) and Angie Howard (27) playing about 20 minutes apart, both used their 4 woods, thought they had hit a good shot, but despaired as they could not find their balls which were hiding in the hole.
Waitrose have sponsored a ladies' national hole-in-one competition 2000, and the club hope both players will be eligible to receive a prize.
There were 26 competitors in the stableford competition, six played below their handicaps, and Aine Binchy won.
l Laura Eastwood of Yelverton GC competed, as England's representative, in the World U16 competition, which was played over 54 holes in the St Andrew's golfing complex before the British Open. There were 74 competitors of which only 10 were girls.
Laura finished in 16th place, with only two other girls doing better than her.
It was a fantastic experience for Laura, who stayed on to watch the Open, where she had the opportunity to meet many well known golfers. She even, briefly, appeared on television!
