THE children of Tavistock Primary School have helped put the town in the history books with the burial of a time capsule. The children joined George Wimpey to commemorate the opening of its new site at Manor Grove by burying a collection of items they feel represent both the school and the town at this moment in time. Emilia and Jordan, aged 5, said: 'We collected things that would show children in the future what it is like in our school. 'We have included a timetable to show the lessons we do as well as things like certificates, a badge and a bookmark that we receive as a reward for merit marks. We are awarded merit points if we do a good piece of work or if we are helpful and good ' We also thought a copy of our school menu would be interesting to people in the future so they could compare what we eat with what they are eating.' The items collected by the children along with postcards showing views of the town, a local newspaper, a local sandwich bar menu, a theatre programme and pictures of the children with the time capsule, will be buried at the site during development. Janine Davy, sales manager for Manor Grove, said: 'We felt that by burying a time capsule at the site and asking the local children to contribute, we could offer something to capture and remember the spirit of Tavistock in 2007.'
