BRITAIN is the fourth wealthiest country in the world. This is because the pensioners of today have spent their working lives making it so, but still three million of them are filling in forms asking for a little extra to keep their heads above the poverty line.
What are our MPs doing about it? For a start they have given themselves a huge increase in their pension funds and are now considering raising the pensionable age to 70 years of age for a way of helping to pay for future pensions.
The first pension was paid in 1909, for that you had to be 70 and it was means-tested!
Now, 93 years later, it looks like we are back to where we began ? that?s progress for you.
