TWO emerging young rugby stars from Tavistock College have been selected to join elite squads of under 18s players for their respective countries. Kirsty McCall has been called up to the Scottish U18s development squad while Steph Morgan, will join 33 other girls who have have been included in the Rugby Football Union?s Women?s Talent Development Group. Kirsty, 15, who is the youngest member of the squad, plays at prop, while Steph, 17, plays at fly-half. Both girls represent Devon, while Kirsty plays for Tavistock Rugby Club while Steph also turns out for Plymouth Albion. Kirsty?s mum Marie, who started and runs the Tavistock Rugby Club girls? section, said. I?m very proud of Kirsty and although it means she has to go Rosyth to play in the squad its worth it just to see her put on the famous blue shirt of Scotland.? Kirsty, who has taken part in squad training earlier this month will be off again on December 15. Steph joins English RFU?s Women?s TDG which is a programme designed to provide the very best Under 18s players with a thorough, planned and progressive individual player development programme. The 34 selected players will attend six TDG days at either a North or South venue over the season. They will receive core rugby skill development, game understanding, strength and conditioning education and development, nutritional advice, sports psychology, performance lifestyle, online training diaries and player kit.
