ASPIRING young artists between the ages of 14 and 19 can have a taste of art school this October half term, with the launch of Young Dartmoor Arts —a series of inspirational short courses run by practising professional artists. Young Dartmoor Arts is managed by the same team who run the Dartmoor Arts Project which has been running a successful annual summer school since 2006. Founded by renowned sculptor Peter Randall Page, Dartmoor Arts aims to create a space where artists can come and learn new skills, further their ideas and join in lively critical debate. The one-day courses for young people will include 'Printing without a Press', led by Steffi Reiss and Jackie Abey, where students can try out a variety of relief and intaglio printing methods, 'Drawing' with Laurie Steen which will include using more unusual materials such as earth pigment and 'Carving' with tutors Reece Ingrams and David Brampton-Green where students will learn how to handle tools and some basic carving techniques. Young Dartmoor Arts will be held just outside Drewsteignton between October 29 and 29. Students have the option of attending for one, two or three days. Course fees are £35 per day to include all materials and refreshments. For booking or further information, please contact [email protected]">[email protected] or Jackie at 01647 281282.
