A BUSINESS based in Sticklepath has won a top South West media and innovation award for work completed a long way away from the village.
Imagemakers are an interpretation strategy, consulting and design business working in the heritage, cultural and tourism sectors. They plan, design and implement interpretation schemes for heritage sites, visitor centres and museums throughout the UK and overseas.
On June 9 they won the international trade category of the fifth annual Media and Innovation Awards, hosted by BBC Radio Devon presenter David Fitzgerald. Collecting the award was Paul Davies, New Media Manager for Imagemakers.
Run in association with the University of Plymouth and the Creative Industries iNet, the awards celebrate the very best work produced by creative and media industries across the South West of England.
The international trade award is for projects that demonstrate commercial success in developing international collaborations and exploiting international markets. Judges looked for creative design, and technical or commercial innovation.
Imagemakers won the award for their involvement with an Archeology Discovery Centre in the Daming Palace Heritage Park in the Xian region of China.
The company created exciting digital displays showing how archeological discoveries take place and how significant finds are studied and conserved.
Ancient objects can be digitally 'picked up' and examined closely on touchscreen technology. On its opening day the centre saw 300,000 visitors.
Team members from Image Makers spent five months in Xian and the company has opened a new office in China.
Jane Sillifant, CEO of Imagemakers said: 'Imagemakers is thrilled to receive recognition for our work at Daming Palace in China.
'We are working from our new office space in Beijing and this is a great way to demonstrate our heritage design expertise to international clients.'
